We spent one night at The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas Ka’anapali for Mother’s Day.
Room

We booked the two-bedroom ocean villa which was so spacious. The room is 1260 sq ft with a two bedrooms fitted with a king bed and each having an en-suite bathroom, a living with a sofa bed, full kitchen with lots of pantry space and a dining table, and a large balcony with another outdoor dining table.
The tropical Hawaiian decor fit the environment. As shown in the pictures above, you can see some of the details of the king bed headboards and light fixtures.
The view was one of the best parts of the room. We were situated on the upper 6th floor with an amazing view looking over the lagoon between buildings.
Pools

If you have a little toddler like we do, this pool is THE BEST on Maui in our opinion. The upper pool goes to a max of 4 feet which is great for swimming with your kids and being able to touch the ground. For the little ones, there are an additional two area: a shallow 1-1.5 foot pool and another lower beach/sand pool with a gradual slope from 0 feet to about 1.5 feet as well. The upper shallow kids pool has various water features such as water cannons and water arches. The lower sand pool has turtle statues with water spraying from their shells, a small additional splash pad, water falls from the main upper pool, and a small slide.
This pool was absolutely perfect for our 3 year old. With his flotation device, the kid friendly shallow pools, and minimal hazards, we (the parents) were able to relax a little more than other pools knowing our little guy was safe.
The only downside is that there were no big slides for the older boys. Our older boys had a blast swimming and hanging out, but I know they were hoping for a bit more action. If you have older boys and looking for a place on Maui, we would recommend the Wailea Beach Resort or the Grand Wailea Resort. Both of those have big, high slides that the older kids will love.
Dinner

For dinner, we decided to stay at the hotel and try Mauka Makai. There was a good selection of cocktails which we definitely enjoyed. For appetizers, we got the coconut shrimp. This was the star item of the night and wish we got two of them! For main dishes, we got the seared ahi with broccolini and jasmine rice, and the grilled New York steak with broccolini and potatoes. Of the two, the seared ahi (if you like fish) was great and would get it again. The steak, while OK, was mediocre and nothing to rave about. For the kids, we got chicken tenders and fries, and pizza. Standard offerings for the kids, and they liked it.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this resort was one of our favorite places to stay on Maui. If you have a large family, prefer spacious rooms (even the smallest one bedroom is a good size), or have toddlers that enjoy swimming, this place is for you.
